Lisa Poore, LPC will discuss what self-care is and how to assess whether your self-care routine needs some help. We will look at signs of burnout and learn how to recognize if you are headed toward burnout. She will present different ways of practicing self-care and will help you develop your own self-care plan. Caregivers, join us to learn some practical strategies! Lisa earned a Master of Science degree from Georgia State University and a diploma in Christian Counseling from the Psychological Studies Institute, now known as Richmont University. She is Board Certified and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. She is also certified in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, which is used to help victims of trauma and disaster.
She has over 27 years experience in counseling children, adolescents and adults. Lisa’s many years of experience have made her competent in treating a variety of issues including depression, anxiety and panic disorder, ADHD, family of origin issues, grief and women’s issues, including giving support to women suffering from postpartum depression. She has expertise in treating bipolar disorder across the lifespan. She works with both individuals and their families to help educate and manage bipolar disorder effectively.
She is well acquainted with the issues of those who struggle with chronic pain and other health disorders. Lisa has been trained in biofeedback and is currently working on her BCIA certification to use biofeedback to treat migraines, chronic pain and other health disorders. Lisa also provides cognitive behavioral therapy for those who struggle with insomnia.
Lisa provides a unique therapy opportunity for clients struggling with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). She provides exposure therapy both inside and outside the office for those OCD clients who need therapy in a real world environment. Lisa’s expertise extends into the area of child and adolescent behavior issues. She guides parents through these challenges and teaches children how to overcome struggles in the areas of ADHD, depression, anxiety, anger and explosiveness, oppositional behavior and school problems.
Lisa is the director of Paraclete Counseling Center, a private counseling practice located in the south Forsyth/Johns Creek area.
